Mihai Fulger

Film Critic, Romania

Mihai Fulger is a film critic, curator, and researcher based in Bucharest, working for the Institute of Art History of the Romanian Academy. He has been active as a film critic since 2002. He has been a member of the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) since 2008 and the European Film Academy (EFA) since 2018. Since 2007, he has collaborated, mainly as a programmer, with various national and international film festivals. He served as a critics’ jury member at several major international film festivals (Belgrade, Berlin, Busan, Cluj-Napoca, Gijón, Karlovy Vary, Pula, Stockholm, Warsaw, etc.). He has been an editor of the quarterly magazine Film, published by the Romanian Filmmakers Union (UCIN), since the first issue in 2013. He collaborates with various Romanian and international print and online publications. He was awarded by the Film Critics’ Association within UCIN for his first film book (The “New Wave” of Romanian Cinema, 2006) and his writings on film (2020). Between 2012 and 2020, he worked for the Romanian National Film Archive (ANF), mainly as a director and programmer of the Romanian Cinematheque in Bucharest.
