2007 Grand Prix
For "4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days" by Cristian Mungiu
4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days (4 luni, 3 saptamini si 2 zile), Cristian Mungiu's winner of both the FIPRESCI Prize and the Golden Palm in Cannes 2007, was chosen the Best Film of the Year in the poll for FIPRESCI's Grand Prix. 248 members participated in the election, which gave a clear preference to the Romanian film. The Grand Prix has been presented to Cristian Mungiu during the opening ceremony of the San Sebastian Film Festival, on September 20 (photo).
The FIPRESCI Grand Prix for the Best Film of the Year, presented since 1999 at the San Sebastian Film Festival, and created to highlight the most daring, original and personal cinema, has formerly gone to some of the most groundbreaking moviemakers of the moment, such as Pedro Almodóvar, Kim Ki-Duk or Jean-Luc Godard.
4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days has opened the Zabaltegi-Pearls section on September 20th.
