Best Film: Mystic River by Clint Eastwood
Best Latin American Film: Historias Mínimas (Minimal Stories) by Carlos Sorin (Argentina)
Best Uruguayan Film: El viaje hacia el mar (Seawards Journey) by Guillermo Casanova
The Prize "José María Podestá", named after a historical figure of Uruguayan film critics, was presented to Eugenio Hintz, founder of Cine Club and for many years director of the official Cinematheque.
The Prize "Salon Rouge", named after the first Uruguayan cinema, was presented to José Castro Navarro, filmaker and expert cinematographer for more than fifty years.

The Polish Section of FIPRESCI (Authors) awarded the annual Golden Reel prizes for the best feature films released in Polish cinemas in 2003. Best foreign film ex aequo to "Hours" directed by Stephen Daldry and "The Son's Room" directed by Nanni Moretti. Honorary Mention: Denis Arcand's "Les invasions barbares". Golden Reel for the best Polish film: "Squint Your Eyes" by Andrzej Jakimowski.
