Reports:

Enjoy. At the San Francisco Film Festival's 50th anniversary, Holger Römers enjoys four contrasting films, including "an extravagant event" at the "church of camp"– a screening of Guy Maddin's Brand Upon the Brain! at the Castro Theater in the gay district.
Happy Together. Alice Shih is impressed by two Asian films, Singapore Dreaming and The Other Half, the products of that rare combination, a husband-and-wife creative team, although they don't see marriage through rose-colored glasses.
Crimes and Punishment. Gerald Peary compares two French films, On Fire (Ca Brule) and A Parting Shot (Pas Douce), both directed by women, Claire Simon and Jeanne Waltz respectively, concluding that one was good and the other bad. Read on to see which was which.
