"Favela Rising"

Images from a Rio de Janeiro favela. In their film Favela Rising which earned a standing ovation, filmmakers Jeff Zimbalist and Matt Mochary portray a charismatic Rio drug trafficker who turned his back against violence to preach a positive message in a musical form. For our jury, it was the best film in the selection of documentaries, at the Sydney Film Festival which celebrated its 53rd edition.
