"Sa-kwa", by Kang
Yi-kwan (Korea), was awarded
the Prize of the International Critics,
at the Toronto International Film Festival. |
Details of the Prize
What You See Is What You Get. Sa-kwa is "surprisingly
directed by a young man, Kang Yi-kwan, who displays an uncanny ability
to plumb the depths of a woman's psyche". Howard Feinstein reviews
the film.
Following the Path of Revenge. "In the right
hands, revenge is a good source of material for the cinema", begins
Rui Pedro Tendinha in his text on two films demonstrating this thesis, Sympathy
for Lady Vengeance (Park Chan-wook) and Hostel (Eli Roth).
Who is Takeshi?. "So what is Takeshis' supposed
to be", asks Charles-Stéphane Roy. "An object of
vanity? A statement on celebrity? A visit to the cineaste's mental
amusement park ... or
the extravaganza of a self-made man with too much liberty and money
at hand?"
