Sochi 2004
 "The
Green Butchers", the film by Danish director Anders Thomas
Jensen, was awarded by our jury the FIPRESCI prize. In its competition
(focusing on European cinema), the festival offered other interesting
films as well, such as "South of the Clouds" by Swiss director
Jean-François Amiguet (not to be confused with a recent Chinese
film of the same title). A lot of films showed the attractivity of
traveling. Also, Danish cinema had a good entrance. Read the reports
of our jurors.
Details of the prize
"The Green Butchers". In his
review of the prize-winning film, Nikolaj Nikitin compares the art of
cinema to the art of cooking.
On the Road. Ingvald Bergsagel found that the competition
was "fittingly dominated by films where the main characters travel,
long to travel or are fighting hard not to have to travel."
The Road To Oneself. Angelika Artyukh liked particularly
the Swiss film "South of the Clouds". Read her answer on the
question if it is "really worth to run from Swiss cows for so long
just to see a fight for Chinese bulls?"
Danish Cinema in Full Blossom. Christian Monggaard on
the recent success of Danish films at home and at international festivals.
