A celebratory overview of IFFK 2004. Shaheen M. Kabir highlights the many aspects of the Kerala film festival that makes it so unique, worthwhile, and extremely popular.

The Decline of Indian Cinema. K.N.T. Sastry argues that there is not a great deal to be enthusiastic about in the current crop of new films coming out of all the Indian language films in their relevant festival sections.

Ring of Fire. In this year's awards one film seemed to stand alone. Director Bahji Hojeij portrays a conflict from his homeland 20 years ago with a dehumanizing account of war leading to individual isolation and loss of reality. It serves as a poignant warning today. By Joan Dupont.
