At this major event, FIPRESCI presented three prizes: to Alexander Sokurov's "Father and Son" (in competition), to "American Splendor" by Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini (Un Certain Regard) and to "The Hours of the Day" by Spanish director Jaime Rosales (parallel sections).

In the frame of the International Critics' Week, FIPRESCI presented its Discovery of the Year : Oasis. His Excellency Mr Lee Chang-dong, director of the film and Minister of Culture of South-Korea, was present to introduce his film. Read the review by Luciano Monteagudo.
