Amsterdam 2003

"My Flesh and Blood"
"The Very Best Day"

The city of Amsterdam hosts IDFA, one of the worldwide most important festivals for documentaries. It's with pleasure that we had a jury there, focusing on a genre which needs and deserves attention, also from critics. Three films had been nominated for the International Critics Award (dedicated to the best debut from the First Appearance program): "My Flesh and Blood" (Jonathan Karsh, US), "Searching for the Wrong-eyed Jesus" (Andrew Douglas, England) and "The Very Best Day" (Pavel Medvedev, Russia). At the end, the prize was divided between the long documentary "My Flesh and Blood" and the short documentary "The Very Best Day". The International Film Critics’ Award consists of a diplome and 2,500 Euro.
