Today’s USA
At the 65th edition of the San Sebastian Film Festival (Spain, September 22-30, 2017), the film about a young African-American in today’s America was appreciated by the critics of the FIPRESCI jury: “Life and Nothing More” (La vida y nada más), the second film by Antonio Méndez Esparza (Spain, USA, 2017, 114 min). Motivation: “Having a tender view on a family in crisis, “Life and Nothing More” by Antonio Méndez Esparza combines social criticism with the complexity of human emotions expressed with splendid performances by its exquisite actors. The film impresses with the integrity of its script and subtlety of style.”
