Second Grand Prix for the Best Film of the Year
Magnolia by Paul Thomas Anderson

Klaus Eder, Jennifer Barrows. Producer Jennifer Barrows receiving the Grand Prix for Magnolia, from FIPRESCI General Secretary Klaus Eder, at the opening gala of the San Sebastian film festival (September 2000)

FIPRESCI's Film of the Year was presented at the San Sebastian International Film Festival for the second year running, at a special evening hosted by the festival.
FIPRESCI's Grand Prix is the only prize awarded by the International Federation of Film Critics that is not decided by a jury but through the casting of votes by its members - in this case by 150 critics from 40 countries.
The two runners-up were Lars von Trier's Dancer in the Dark and Abbas Kiarostami's The Wind Will Carry Us.
